Utkal Business School (UBS) recognizes the importance of sports and physical fitness in the holistic development of students. The Institute actively promotes participation in a variety of indoor and outdoor sports activities to foster physical well-being, teamwork, leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship.

To encourage a healthy and active lifestyle, the Institute regularly organizes an Annual Sports Meet, inter-class and friendly cricket tournaments, volleyball matches, and other recreational sporting events throughout the academic year. These activities provide students with opportunities to showcase their sporting talents while promoting camaraderie and a spirit of healthy competition.

The campus is also equipped with a well-equipped gymnasium featuring modern fitness equipment, enabling students and staff to maintain physical fitness and adopt healthy lifestyles. Health Facilities

Utkal Business School (UBS) is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of its students and staff by providing essential healthcare support on the campus.

The Institute has a First Aid Room equipped with basic first-aid medicines and medical supplies to provide immediate assistance in case of minor illnesses, injuries, or medical emergencies. The facility is readily accessible to students and staff during working hours.

To promote preventive healthcare and ensure timely medical consultation, a qualified medical practitioner visits the campus every Sunday evening to conduct routine health check-ups and provide medical advice to students residing in the hostels.

For specialized treatment and emergency medical care, the Institute has established a tie-up with a local hospital at Jatani. Students requiring advanced medical attention or treatment for major illnesses are promptly referred to the hospital for appropriate diagnosis and care.

Through these healthcare initiatives, UBS strives to provide a safe, healthy, and supportive campus environment that enables students to focus on their academic and personal development with confidence.

Facilities for Differently Abled (Barrier-Free Environment)

Utkal Business School (UBS) is committed to providing an inclusive, accessible, and barrier-free campus environment that enables students, faculty, staff, and visitors with disabilities to participate fully in academic and campus life.

The Institute has taken measures to facilitate accessibility through the provision of barrier-free access to academic and administrative areas, wherever applicable. The campus is designed to support safe and convenient movement for persons with disabilities and is continuously upgraded in accordance with the applicable guidelines and statutory requirements.

The facilities provided include:
  • Ramps with handrails at key locations for easy access to academic and administrative buildings.
  • Barrier-free access to classrooms and other essential facilities, wherever feasible.
  • Reserved parking space for persons with disabilities.
  • Accessible washroom facilities.
  • Wheelchair assistance, whenever required.

Anti-Ragging Cell

The institution has constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee to ensure a safe, welcoming, and ragging-free campus environment for all students. The committee functions in accordance with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission and other regulatory authorities, with a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of ragging.

The committee is responsible for preventing, monitoring, and addressing incidents of ragging within the campus. It undertakes various preventive measures, including awareness programmes, orientation sessions, display of anti-ragging notices, and regular interaction with students to promote a culture of mutual respect and discipline.

Students are encouraged to report any incident of ragging without fear of retaliation. All complaints are treated with utmost seriousness and are investigated promptly, fairly, and confidentially. Appropriate disciplinary action is taken against those found guilty, as per the prescribed rules and regulations.

Through the proactive efforts of the Anti-Ragging Committee, the institution strives to create a friendly, inclusive, and conducive learning environment where every student feels safe, respected, and supported throughout their academic journey.

The Following behaviours are strictly prohibited in college premises:
  • Any act of Indiscipline, Teasing or Handling with Rudeness.
  • Any act that Prevents, Disrupts the Regular Academic Activity.
  • Any activity which is likely to cause Annoyance, hardship, Psychological Harm or creates Fear or Apprehension.
  • Any act of Financial Extortion or Forceful Expenditure.
  • Any act of Physical Abuse causing Assault, Harm or danger to Health.
  • Any act of abuse by spoken words, emails, SMS or public insult etc.
  • Any act of injury or infringement of the fundamental right to the human dignity.
  • Any act of Wrongful Confinement, Kidnapping, molesting or committing unnatural offences, use of criminal forces, trespass or intimidation.
  • Any unlawful assembly or conspiracy to ragging.
Actions to be taken against students for indulging and abetting ragging in the institute:
  1. A strong, exemplary and justifiably harsh punishment would be meted out to the persons indulged in ragging to act as a deterrent against recurrence of such incidents.
  2. In case of any incident of ragging, a First Information Report (FIR) would be filed without exception by the institutional authorities with the local police authorities.
  3. The Anti-Ragging Committee of the institution shall take an appropriate decision, with regard to punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging and nature and gravity of the incident of ragging.
  4. Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offense as established the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging at the institution level shall be any one or any combination of the following:
    1. Cancellation of admission
    2. Suspension from attending classes
    3. Withholding/Withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits
    4. Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process
    5. Withholding results
    6. Suspension/expulsion from the hostel
    7. Rustication from the institution for period ranging from 1 to 4 semester

The Committee shall ensure compliance with the provisions of UGC Regulation as well as the provisions of any law for the time being in force concerning ragging and also to monitor and oversee the performance of the Anti-Ragging Squad for prevention of ragging in the University.

Internal Complaint Committee (ICC)

The institution has constituted a Sexual Harassment Prevention & Redressal Committee, also known as the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), to ensure a safe, secure, and gender-sensitive environment for all students, faculty members, and staff. The committee functions in accordance with the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

The committee is responsible for preventing incidents of sexual harassment, creating awareness about gender sensitivity and workplace ethics, and addressing complaints in a fair, confidential, and time-bound manner. Regular awareness programmes, workshops, and sensitization activities are organized to promote mutual respect, dignity, and equality among all members of the institution.

The committee follows a transparent and impartial procedure for the investigation and resolution of complaints while ensuring confidentiality and protection of the complainant's rights. Through its proactive efforts, the institution remains committed to fostering a safe and inclusive campus environment that upholds the dignity and well-being of every individual.

Students Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC)

The Students Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) has been constituted by Utkal Business School with an aim to address the concerns and grievances of students and staff in a fair, transparent, and time-bound manner. An effective online grievance redressal mechanism has been adopted by the institution, enabling stakeholders to submit their complaints and suggestions conveniently through digital platforms.

Objectives:
  • To create a system to resolve student and staff grievances.
  • To provide immediate access to grievance redressal for both staff and students.
  • To investigate the causes of dissatisfaction.
  • To educate members on their duties and responsibilities.

The committee examines all grievances related to academic, administrative, infrastructural, and other institutional matters and takes appropriate measures for their resolution. Every grievance received is treated with confidentiality and impartiality, ensuring that the rights and interests of all stakeholders are protected.

The online system enhances accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in grievance handling, thereby fostering a supportive and responsive institutional environment. Through this mechanism, the college remains committed to maintaining a culture of accountability, mutual respect, and continuous improvement.

Committee for the SC/ST

As per AICTE guidelines, a committee is formed for prevention of atrocities against SC/ST students under Act No. 33 of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

The broad objective of the Committee is to ensure and provide equal opportunity and social justice to the SC and ST students in the fields of education, economic and social security. It also focuses on safeguarding the interest of staff members belonging to any such categories.

In case of any grievance in this regard, students can approach the committee for redressal. The committee will suggest measures to prevent atrocities, if any, against any of the SC/ST students in the institute and to ensure the feeling of security amongst them as per the provisions in the said act. In order to implement and monitor the policies relating to the overall development of the staff and students belonging to SC/ST communities, this Committee under the title "SC/ST COMMITTEE" is constituted comprising of the following members:

Functions of the SC/ST Committee:
  • To collect information and maintain records regarding the number of staff and students belonging to SC/ST categories in the college.
  • To supervise and see that the admissions to the hostels are made in accordance with the reservation policy declared by the State Government from time to time.
  • To supervise the allotment and distribution of scholarships for various reserved candidates.
  • To deal with representations received from the SC/ST candidates regarding their admissions and recruitment, promotion and other similar matters in the colleges.
  • To conduct activities for the betterment of students from SC /ST community.
  • To create awareness of the schemes for the welfare of SC /ST community.
  • To attend to the grievances of SC/ST students and employees are monitored and rendered the necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • To counsel and guide SC/ST students and help them to manage academic and personal issues if any.
  • To inform the SC/ST students regarding various scholarships / program of State Govt. and UGC.
  • Function as a Grievances Redressal Cell for the grievances of SC/ST students and employees of the college and render them necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems.
  • To ensure the Prevention of Atrocities on the SC, ST Staff, Faculty and Students.
  • To hear and resolve the issues/complaints if any; of such nature of Atrocity reported/complained.

Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) Cell

With a view to promoting equity and ensuring equal opportunities for students belonging to socio-economically disadvantaged groups, the Institute has constituted a Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) Cell to provide an equitable, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The Cell works towards ensuring equal access to educational opportunities and supporting students who may face social, economic, educational or other barriers in pursuing higher education. It coordinates, wherever required, with the existing institutional mechanisms such as the Equal Opportunity Cell, SC/ST Cell, Grievance Redressal Committee and other student-support mechanisms.

Objectives:

The SEDGs Cell aims to:

  • Promote equal opportunity and an inclusive academic environment for all students.
  • Protect the dignity, rights and safety of students belonging to disadvantaged groups.
  • Facilitate access to scholarships, financial assistance and applicable government schemes.
  • Provide academic guidance, mentoring and counselling support to students requiring assistance.
  • Create awareness about educational opportunities, support schemes and institutional facilities.
  • Monitor and address issues relating to discrimination, exclusion or denial of equal opportunity.
  • Encourage greater participation of SEDG students in academic, co-curricular and institutional activities.
  • Facilitate appropriate grievance redressal while maintaining confidentiality, dignity and safety.
  • Promote awareness regarding the constitutional and statutory safeguards available to eligible students.
Major Activities:

The SEDGs Cell may undertake the following activities:

  1. Awareness Programmes on scholarships, government schemes, educational opportunities and student-support facilities.
  2. Academic Mentoring and Counselling for students requiring additional academic or socio-emotional support.
  3. Scholarship Facilitation by providing information and assistance regarding applicable Central and State Government scholarships and other financial-support schemes.
  4. Orientation and Support Programmes to help students adjust to the academic environment and participate effectively in institutional activities.
  5. Grievance Support for complaints relating to discrimination, exclusion or denial of equal opportunities.
  6. Coordination with Institutional Cells to ensure effective implementation of measures intended to support disadvantaged students.
  7. Outreach and Inclusivity Initiatives to encourage participation and access to higher education opportunities.
  8. Monitoring and Review of support measures and identification of areas requiring further institutional intervention.

The Cell will function in accordance with applicable UGC/Government guidelines and the policies of UBS and will endeavour to ensure that students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds receive appropriate support to pursue their education with dignity, equality and confidence.

Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC)

Utkal Business School (UBS), established in 2025, is committed to promoting an inclusive, equitable and supportive academic environment for all students and staff. In keeping with this objective, the Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) will be constituted by the competent authority of the School in accordance with applicable statutory and regulatory guidelines.

The Cell will work towards ensuring that students and staff from different social, economic and educational backgrounds receive equal opportunities in academic, co-curricular and institutional activities. It will also create awareness regarding equality, inclusion, non-discrimination and the welfare measures available to eligible students.

The Equal Opportunity Cell will undertake activities such as:
  • Promoting equal opportunities and a discrimination-free environment within the campus.
  • Creating awareness about the rights, facilities and welfare schemes available to disadvantaged and underrepresented groups.
  • Facilitating access to institutional support and assistance wherever required.
  • Addressing issues relating to equal opportunity and inclusion and referring matters to the appropriate authority, wherever necessary.
  • Organising awareness programmes, counselling sessions and sensitisation activities.
  • Coordinating with other institutional committees/cells for student welfare and inclusive education.
  • Maintaining appropriate records of the activities undertaken by the Cell.

As UBS is a newly established institution and its BBA programme has only recently commenced, the Equal Opportunity Cell is in the process of being formally constituted. The Cell will become fully operational after the nomination/appointment of its members and will undertake activities progressively as the institution develops its academic and administrative operations.

Women Protection Cell

The Women Protection Cell at Utkal Business School is dedicated to empowering female students and staff members by fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive campus environment.

The Cell organizes regular self-defense workshops, gender sensitization seminars, confidential counseling sessions, and leadership awareness programs to ensure women's security and equal opportunities in higher education.
